An interesting bit through the Roman/Greek then French/British history of the bathroom, with occasional mentions of other places.
It would help if I could read French, since a lot of quotes were in French. Maybe everyone in the 1960s had French in high school, but I did not and I missed a lot in a couple chapters because of it.
It was interesting, the writing style is not modern, but was still well researched.
