On one of the first pages before the book starts Carter writes this--
This novel differs immensely from all my previous books, mainly because this is the first thriller I've written in which most of the plot and characters are based on real facts and people I met during my criminal-behavior-psychology days. The names have been changed for obvious reasons.
I'm glad I read that before starting the book, once you start it you won't want to put it down, as his other books it is like being 'under a spell' until you finish! The climax ending will have you holding your breathe until the last word on the last page!
I ordered it as soon as I knew he had a new one out!
