This book was a slow moving in the beginning. In addition, I found the story of the scientifically driven husband who suddenly realizes that he loves his wife and wants to save their marriage at all costs a bit beyond what I believe. I live with a scientist but I have known individuals like this man. A good many of them spend most of their time on scientific research, writing papers, going to conferences, and doing whatever it takes to reach the pinnacle of their area. Those who choose balance often do not rise to the top of their professions, choosing to enjoy the best of both worlds. It's just as competitive career path as those who choose corporate life or the law as careers.

In this story the wife lives in the shadow of her husband's fame and feeling as if her life is diminished by his success. Twice she leaves him and until the second time the husband doesn't worry much about it. At this point he realizes that if he really loves his wife he must work more at holding his family together. Meanwhile the wife finds the love of her life - someone who understands her and listens to her. This man is her soul mate. Her decision is to change her life by divorcing her husband and choosing life with her newfound love maintaining the marriage as best she can. What she decides is not a surprise.
