Great first contact Science Fiction for the young and very young at heart. This series is a great sentimental favorite for many adult readers. I think I made the mistake of missing it when I was younger.
I do like YA fiction (though admittedly I can be pretty picky about it) but this one seemed to be written for an even younger audience. The lack of nuance and the large dose of naivete that ran through the narrative, dominated it actually, put me off and I could not finish it.
Since I missed any sort of similar criticism when I was looking into purchasing this book on Audible (with all its glowing reviews), I thought I'd just leave this here to either spare or inspire others. For what it's worth, I'd probably buy the whole series for a young person.
Two star rating for me, but it's four stars for young people; so I'm giving it three to be fair.
