The writing is crisp and the characters are complex. The combinations of partners I never could see working out and getting passed their shared teen years. Neither had grown that much in maturity but were both locked in to the past. The murder mystery was complex as two factions become involved extremist of both the right and the left. I really hope there are no towns with such violent factions. In this work you are repelled by both groups. The partners who were bully and victim in high school are paired detectives in this case. Well worth the read and makes it hard not to get involved and want the story to continue. Luckily for us there are books to follow...Great read.
