Well written, which I expected from the author, but a little sad. The first 2/3 or so of the book I kept wondering if there really was going to be any kind of happy ending at all. In the end I was still a little bummed at the harshness of "the real world" the kids had to endure. In conclusion: a good read, but too depressing for me to re-read in the future.
