First of all, this book is NOT like the Poison Study series or the Glass series...it is it's own brand-new world.
That being said--is it as good? Depends...if you're looking for a fast-paced simple story with lots of action & not a lot of details about this new fictional world, then YES, it's great.
If you're looking for a book similar to Poison Study, with tons of detail & description, you'll be disappointed.
I often found myself wishing her Yelena books were LESS detailed--they were almost OCD in their descriptions. This book, Touch of Power, was much more simply written and was super-fast to read! I read it in one night!
Did I like it as well as her other series?...Not really. But that is not to say I didn't like it! I enjoyed this first introductory glimpse into Avry's world--and I want to read the 2nd book in this series when it's out next year.
This book seems more like a "first book" an author would write, not her 9th. If you read it like you're reading a brand-new never-read-before author, you'll really enjoy it. Just don't spend time comparing it to Poison Study or her Glass series--because it simply won't compare.
