This story read very much like a Mary Balogh book (the Wescott and Simply series'), which isn't a bad thing, just similar in style; very subtle and so even-keeled to be on the verge of dull despite the intricacies of the plot to jazz things up. I guess it's true to the time period. Still, my mind wandered more than once. I prefer a little more life to my romances. 3.5 stars.
