The Paleo Slow Cooker: Healthy, Gluten-free Meals the Easy Way

It's a beautifully published book with quality paper and nice photographs. The recipes are Paleo, and while there are explanations they don't take over the book. It's a cookbook not a Paleo book.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to really respect the cooking method or the ingredients. Many of the photos show the food dried off rather than what the food looks like from the slow cooker. The chicken wings look baked not slow cooked. It's as if the chicken wing and duck (with skin) recipes were included just to add another recipe. IMO roasting rather than slow cooking would be the preferred method for these dishes.

Then, there is the slow cooked prime rib chili. That just seems so wrong. If I had a prime rib of beef, I'd want to showcase it rather than hide it in a bowl of soup that's been cooked for hours.

There are some recipes that look good, but I don't have confidence in them. I'd rather weed a few non-paleo ingredients from Dana Carpender's slow cooker book.
