Not the best of the series but it was fun. I have always liked the interaction of the side characters in her books. I actually wish there were more of that. The romantic progression between Cale and Alex wasn't great. I can't quite pin down what bothers me but it doesn't seem to flow properly. Maybe it's because their interactions weren't clever and the dialogue wasn't as good as her other books.
The mystery portion of it was predictable. I do like some of the back story of Alex. I remembered really liking her in the other series, but I don't think this one does her justice. Again something I'm having a hard time pinpointing why. I think her character here is a little slow on the uptake and I didn't get that from the other books. She is also kind of inconsistent about how she reacts to things, like watching her sister turn.
I don't like how weak Sam was in this book as well.
So yes, there are a few problems with this book but again I read it relatively quick and enjoyed it enough. I think the side characters really save this book for me.
