Why, oh why, are morbose Scandinavian detectives fasinating enough to draw this hard core police procedural fan into the midst of these police or government departments that epitomize the hidden corruption under the surface. Like the rest of the world, I fell under the spell of the dragon tattoed Swedish hackeress. It opened me to others from the same region. Now comes this Carl Morch - who gives Hamlet a run for the title of most Depressed Dane. But we are after the fate of a missing Parliment member not revenge for a murdered father ... aren't we? And just what was Asaad doing before he arrived in Denmark, anyway?

A cast of supporting characters lend elements of frustration, humor, spicy Middle Eastern foods, and very loud music to Carl's suddenly interesting life.

In case you can't tell ... I really enjoyed this book. Even when you guess who the bad people are and why they did the deed, you will stick around for how it finally ends.

So a 4-star from me is a double thumbs up.
