J.K. Rowling's modern classic about magic, destiny, and friendship begins in Book One of the Harry Potter series: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The book follows young Harry Potter, an orphan left in the care of his Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia in dreary suburban England. Then, on his eleventh birthday, his life changes forever when he is visited by the mysterious half-giant Hagrid with an invitation to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry is thrilled to discover that he is a wizard, but the strange and wonderful new world into which he is plunged is not without its dark side.
