This is a very compelling and FRUSTRATING series. Moning has created an incredible world. We are given so many hints, but no real answers, and this is book 4! Mac's transformation from clueless southern belle to tough leather clad fighter who's trying to save the world rocks, but we still don't know what Barrons is! I feel like I can't even decide whether or not I like it until I have the chance to read book 5 and see how it all will fit together. If you like your books to wrap up neatly at the end, this is not the read for you. I miss "hearing" parts of the story from other points of view, although Moning makes it very clear in her afterward that it's an intentional choice on her part.
