I was drawn to this book by its cover. The way the silhouette of the two girls create the shape of a dagger is awesome!

Overall, I enjoyed this Gothic mystery set in Victorian era London. But after finishing the book, I really feel a couple things are misleading: the title and the genre.

Although the events were shown from Lucy Sexton's point of view (one of the twins' daughter), it was really more about the twins themselves! And it didn't feel like a 'young adult' Gothic novel at all! There are sexual references and a very gruesome scene, so be forewarned. It felt like it would've been a much better story had it been told from the adults' point-of-view, rather than from Lucy's juvenile one.

I also felt the pacing was painfully slow. It took way too long for things to happen, so I skimmed quite a bit to get to the next turn of events.

I did enjoy the evolution of Lucy and her neighbor, Kit's, relationship, and in the end, it was a page-turner as Lucy tried to figure out what the heck had happened!

I give this one a B-.
