I am reading an interesting book titled, " Peculiar Treasures" by Fredrick Buechner. What a funny man and adorable writer. He has written a book about different people of the Bible and in each synopsis he includes wit, humor and truth intertwined with what he would image their life was like back in the days. I laughed and I learned a few things. I learned Im a schlemozzle! I learned what a schlemiel is too. In my thinking its better to be a schlemozzle because they are consistently trustworthy whereas a schlemiel I dont think is as trustworthy.

I especially enjoyed the synopsis on Jesus, Aaron, Yahweh, and lastly Job, the grand pubah of schlemozzlery. Jobs story was done so well and so gently that it was as if Mr. Buechner knew him personally. While it is a cute book I would not recommend it to anyone really because of its watered down version of spiritual things and its inclusion of some things I deem evil. I hate to throw the baby out with the bathe water but in this case unless the author amends the pages on mentioning of Dr. Kinsey I would have to toss them one out for its potential for harm on non-believers. I give it a 1.75 stars out of 5 for its light heartedness and humor.
