Interesting story that follows the political turmoil in China during the very early 1900's when individuals were fighting for independence. The book also follows one mixed race couple's struggle to live with extraordinary prejudice in both China and America. The reader is engaged with the people and their children growing up. I gave it a low score because I felt the book was much too long. D.
