This is an excellent contribution to the Vampire Romance genre. Emma Holly delivers a unique and interesting take on the vampire story and includes the sensual heat we've come to expect from this author. She gives us vampires who can transform into animals so you get the shapeshifter and vampire genre all rolled into one delicious book.

Emma Holly is generally known as an erotic fiction writer, so to answer the comments from another reader, if you don't care for eroticism and sex in your books, don't read Emma Holly. What is great about this book is that you get all the naughty bits but also a really well-written love story with tremendous depth and thought.

What makes this book special, besides the vampire/shapshifter combination, is that the angst of the book is more rooted in characters rather than situations. You do have situation and plot to drive the story, but it felt like the emotional strings were about people, which makes this book feel different than many of the others in the genre.

Can't wait to read more.
