This book hooked me in the first chapter. It is told from the perspective of Jacob, a man in his 90's looking back on his unexpected career with the circus beginning in 1932. Gruen skillfully blends the realities of the circus with her gripping tale of love, murder, deceit, friendship, and adventure.
This is a must-read!
