This is a young adult series that doesn't go all teenage angsty on you. Dru Anderson is an older teen but she is also a djamphir who is training to kick vampire ass someday. In the meantime, she is jonesing because her friend (possible love connection), Graves, has been taken by Sergej, the King of the vampires, the enemy. Dru trusts Christophe when he tells her that they are searching high and low for any sign of Graves but with no success. When someone tells her that Christophe is lying and is in fact involved in Graves disappearance, Dru breaks out and going a-hunting herself.
This is an exciting installment to the Strange Angels series with Dru finally coming into her own and possible love interests in Christophe and Graves. I particularly liked that Dru accepts her body the way it is including her "chesticles which impersonate gnat bites". This thought made me smile and think better of her. Life really isn't all about clothes, makeup, and boys though she has the boys thing down pat.
