This is an excellent book. If I had room on my bookshelf, I would definetly keep it. It's a non-fiction story of American history before the New Madrid earthquakes, felt in a much wider area than the S.F. earthquakes, and the history after these events. It isn't biased about the Indians, British, Spanish, or Americans during our early history. If you are at all interested in earthquakes in the U.S., as I am, you will enjoy this as well. California isn't the only area in our 48 states that are affected.
