This was an interesting, quick read, but I found Bourdain's identification with Typhoid Mary as a fellow cook a bit tortured. The truth is the woman violently maintained her innocence but knew enough to get out of Dodge when there was a typhoid outbreak around her, even before she was identified as a typhoid carrier. Bourdain's explanation of "cooks are a breed apart who don't care about the outside world" seems more about Bourdain and less about Mary Mallon.
