This creation tale from the Caribbean portrays Mama God and Papa God talking together as they add new elements to the heavens - the stars, the moon, the sun, and the earth. With love and laughter, Papa God creates the first man and Mama God creates the first woman. On earth they place trees and flowers, animals and birds, water and fish, wind and rain - along with people of all shapes, colors and sizes. Each new creation fills them with great delight - until they finally agree that the world is "truly a wonderful place".
Dramatic, stylized illustrations use rich, tropical colors and striking contrasts of light and dark to create a visual feast. The simple eloquence of the retelling is perfectly complemented by the bold imaginative pictures of Mama God and Papa God and their new world.
