These later Malloren novels are not as thrilling and compelling as the earliest ones(and really, who could top My Lady Notorious?) but it is still a pretty good read. Probably I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if I weren't a longtime reader of everything Jo Beverly writes and thoroughly invested in Malloren World. So I would advise readers who haven't read any of this series to start at the beginning. The book takes place, by the way, during the Georgian era which is earlier than the Regency. The quality of the writing is good as always but Beverly's recent books seem to have fewer love scenes.
