When I saw the cover and publisher of Once Upon a Royal Christmas by Teri Wilson, I knew it would be a fun and frothy Christmas story, and it was exactly that. A welcome escape from stress at work and heavier novels - literally a Hallmark movie in book form.

Gracie Clark is a princess ... not a real one, but her character Princess Snowflake is very popular at children's parties. She wants to grow her fledgling business to provide good jobs for her young women employees, but no bank will provide the loan she needs.

Nikolas of San Glacera is a prince, a real one, next in line for the throne of his small (fictional) country that's a winter wonderland. Tourism, the primary source of income, is declining so the royal family offers a contest with a $30,000 prize. Need I say more?

The plot of this Grumpy + Sunshine romance is predictable, but also included a few surprises to keep it interesting. It's chock full of Christmas traditions, likeable characters, and cute dogs ... a sweet and heartwarming tale. The audiobook is narrated by Brittany Pressley whose voice is well suited for a Hallmark princess story.

Thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this fun beginning to my holiday reading.
