Jason Stateler is a hardened agent who's still blaming himself for the death of his female partner. He doesn't want to ever become emotionally involved with another woman, but he doesn't count on the allure of Lane McCullough, a beautiful detective with her own share of personal guilt. Neither wants involvement, but from the first explosive moment when they meet, the sparks fly.

Jason thinks Lane has crashed his undercover operation, while she thinks the investigation belongs to her. Each wants to work the case alone, but their superior officers decide they should work together. From then on, they're forced to become inseparable as they dig deeper into a crime ring; and then as their covers are blown, forcing them to flee and hide out together in a deserted cabin.

The stakes rise ever higher, not only from the threat of the vicious criminals determined to hunt down Jason and Lane, but from the growing attraction they have to each other.
