I truly enjoyed this book though very frustrating at times. Frustrating because of the time frame the book took place in. It is a true story about a family with a d/Deaf daughter. During this time so many people were trying to push parents of deaf children to only use the oral method. All these parents heard over and over again was that manual language, i.e. American sign language, was the worst thing they could do for their deaf child. This family went through years of frustration, heart ache, and disappointment. When all they had to do was learn to sign. Period. That's it. There is nothing wrong with people who can't hear, you just have to learn the correct language. This was a wonderful book and I really enjoyed the ending!
