A friend recommend this book to me and I have to say I rather enjoyed it. It was well written and the story moved along at a steady pace. The only fault I could find with it was that the author mentioned the fact that the title character was a giant a few to many times. The story begins with the past and weaves it way to the present and recounts the life of Truly and her friends and members of the small town she lives in. In a way it is a sad recounting of a persons life and the twists that happen in her life that created the person she is at the end of the story. The characters are mean, spiteful, bitter people who can not look beyond their own reflection and when you think they are beyond redemption there is a glimmer of hope. In the end the bad people get what they deserve and the good people get what they deserve. But, it isn't necessarily what they all wanted from life. Overall I enjoyed the book and found it to be a delightful well thought out insightful book into human nature and what people will do for love and acceptance.
