This was my first ever digital audiobook, and when I began listening I thought I had the wrong novel because it opened with a conversation involving Aphrodite, Hephaestus, and Ares. I quickly learned I was listening to the correct - and very creative - YA novel: a World War I story narrated by Greek gods.
The plot features two love stories and incorporates the themes of war, ragtime music, and racism in the military. The title comes from the British WWI song "Oh It's A Lovely War" meant ironically, of course.
The audiobook was wonderful with several talented British narrators and music woven throughout. The only part that felt YA was the lack of "intensity" of the romances.
