This book was amazing! I was so enthralled by his story. For every child who has ever felt like he didn't belong, for every Mama Bear that has done everything in her power to make your special child try to have as normal a life as they are able - this book is for you! Sam was born with ocular albinism- red eyes. He was teased and ridiculed his entire life, even being bullied by his childhood tormentor into adulthood. His mother, a very religious person felt it was God's will, and tried to make him stand up for himself. His father felt every life lesson was helping him to become a better man. Everyone turned the other way, even at the Catholic school he attended. I cried so many times. Luckily, he found two friends who also felt like misfits, and the three of them formed a lifetime bond. So many times I felt this may have been based on a true story, and reading the author's bio at the end of the book, I gained a little more insight to where this might have come from. For those of you who love a story of a person who overcomes what life has given them-I beg you to read this story.
