I wasn't too sure I would like this book when I started it, because it is told from the dog's point of view, and I'm not usually a fan of anthropomorphism in this degree. But except for a few iffy places, once you accept the narrator, the story progresses smoothly and is quite easy to read and compelling - I finished this in one day. Enzo tells the story of his master Denny Swift, an up-and-coming race car driver, and the challenges he faces when his wife dies and he has to fight her parents for custody of his daughter. Throughout of course we are treated to Enzo's view of life, dogs and humans; and his quiet philosophy, loyalty and love are the rock on which this book settles. It's a simple story, told from an unusual point of view, very sweet and thoroughly enjoyable.
