Helpful Score: 3
So I read this book to see what the hype was about and was sadly disappointed. The writing made me think of the first book in the Harry Potter series -- easy read, undeveloped characters, and surreal events. (Although I enjoyed the Harry Potter series a lot more.) I was expecting a bit more from a vampire book but instead received a book where the first 350 pages (out of 498) are about a love struck girl and her obsession with the beautiful vampire she meets in school. It starts getting a bit exciting towards chapter 18 and then dies down again. Will I read the rest of the series? Maybe. Am I anxious to get to the next book? Not really. It will be a while before I pick up book 2.
