This is a great book! It teaches you the hows and whys of chinese cooking, and works more like an real book than a cookbook. It not only gives you yummy recipes (I never would have though spinach-mushroom stir-fry could taste good!), it also gives you the information to create your own with whatever's in the house.

It's not a good book for vegans, though, as the writer will use milk. This could probably be replaced with soy milk, though.

Also, the book has notes on how each dish would be prepared for a non-vegetarian. I've sometimes added tofu according to the meat directions to give some more protein. It's fantastic - the best way I've had tofu since I started a vegetarian diet!

I highly recommend this book to anyone starting a vegetarian lifestyle and in need of some flavour in their life.
