Placed in an orphanage after the murder of her parents, the eldest child of Lord and Lady Chilton had given up any hope that her family in England would ever look for her. Marie Anne, now known as Marianne Cotterwood, has little experience with love, but cannot deny her attraction to the suspicious and arrogant Lord Lambeth. When Marianne is the victim of some lethal "accidents," it becomes clear that someone is looking for her after all. Someone who does not want her to discover her true identity.
