I enjoyed Twilight, but it suffered from comparisons for me. It just doesn't compare well to so many other books I've read over the years with similar premises. Still, I'm glad I read the book and will probably pick up the sequels. I really, really recommend the following books that reading Twilight reminded me about.

Twilighters - Try these books too!

Interview with a Vampire - Anne Rice (really get into the nitty gritty of vampire psychology)
Dead Until Dark - Charlaine Harris (fall in love with two vampires and a werewolf while laughing)
The Silver Metal Lover - Tanith Lee (bring your box of tissues and fall in love with Silver, a beautiful robot)
Outlander - Diana Gabaldon (another impossible love story involving time travel and a feisty Highlander)
Anne of Green Gables - L.M. Montgommery (for a story of a girl full of life and imagination)
The Thorn Birds - Colleen McCollough (it's a bad idea to fall in love with a priest)
One for the Money - Janet Evanovich (fall in love, get in trouble, get out of trouble and laugh)
Gone With the Wind - Margaret Mitchell (a life and love story beyond compare)
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
Sense and Sensibility - Jane Austen
Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte
