The Black Ice Score: A Parker Novel

All the Parker books by Richard Stark (Donald Westlake) are great. I'm reading my way through them in order and enjoying them very much. I have also read most of the Donald Westlake Dortmunder series, in which the protagonist is a character variation of Parker whose experiences are hapless and comic. So this book, The Black Ice Score, is a partner to the Dortmunder book, The Hot Rock, which was made into a mediocre movie with Robert Redford. Anyway, if you love Stark/Westlake's writing the novels are a delight to compare. Stark's prose style for the Parker books is, well, stark. Sparse prose. Action exactly described. A cheerless world. And Parker never ruminates about anything. Westlake's prose style and character descriptions are a funny variation in The Hot Rock. Recommend both!
