This is truly the book for beginning in-line skaters. Sullivan outlines the history of the sport, the basic skills involved, and the maintenance of skates. Safety is stressed throughout, from performance techniques to selection of appropriate equipment. Excellent-quality, large, full-color photographs clarify information presented in the 15 chapters. The short sentences are written in clear, descriptive language. Eleven common skating terms are included in the glossary. In-Line Skating is easier to comprehend than Miller's Get Rolling (Pix & Points, 1992). It is so convincing and positive that readers will be ready try out this activity immediately. An appealing, informative how-to guide.
