this book is the third of a series featuring human detective elijah baley and robot detective r. daneel olivaw (the "r" is for robot). the first two books, the caves of steel and the naked sun, set up a problem of murder, which is not surprising in a detective novel. the cast of characters are the same in all three books. the biggest problem with this one is that *nothing* happens. the entire book is conversations between the major characters, but *nothing* happens.
i've been a huge fan of asimov for many decades, but i can't find anything good to say about this one.
