It was hard for me get interested in this book. The author's writing is simple and plain. For me it felt like a teenager had written the book. The descriptions and dialogue were lacking for me. The characters annoyed me. Sookie was just about most annoying, boring and plain character.

This book is considered to be a "lighter" vampire novel. None of the vampire lore was original. I've read many vampire books and this book just isn't anything special.
