Book Review of A Christmas Gift

A Christmas Gift

A very small book with large print, published originally in 1977 as The Melodeon. It's the Great Depression and a young boy is sent to live with his grandparents in Michigan for a year because since his father lost his job, his parents just can't give him the life the elders can on their farm. It's Christmas, one without material gifts, but those of the spirit (LITERALLY) will make up for it. It's a sweet tale, an interesting one when it speaks of the winter on the farm and the neighbors and local church. The grandmother wants one thing, and that is to donate their melodeon to their tiny church as a Christmas gift, but it's Christmas eve and there is a blizzard out.

I love Christmas stories, but usually non-fiction because well, dare I say it, most fiction Christmas tales for me are just smary. I like this one, and do recommend it.
