In a trilogy marked by ongoing weirdness, this is probably the weirdest. It is appealing on some levels because it draws the trilogy to an action-packed close, but leaves the reader with some odd feelings.

The Plot:

Gage and his friends fight to concur a demon who threatens to overtake their town. Gage falls in love with one member of their group, Cybil, with whom he shares the psychic talent of foresight.

Gage is probably the sexiest of the three men, because he is a rebel, he is moody, and he is surprisingly loyal. In the story he rises to the challenge and becomes a true hero.

There are some truly funny and heart-warming parts. The six friends are fairly easy to relate to and their dynamics are fun to watch.

As said above, the book is just plain odd. It takes a departure from anything believable or logical. Even ignoring logic, there are some plot twists that barely make sense or serve a purpose at all.

The romance is present, but in large part overshadowed. At the end I felt like I missed the part where Gage and Cybil actually fell in love.

The trilogy is good, but it is not Roberts' best work. I believe it would appeal to many long time fans of hers, as well as fans of mystery and paranormal romance.
