A beautiful new line of CAPTIVATING HISTORY books has arrived and this one is spectacular. As a former teacher of reluctant readers, this would be a hit with them! There are lots of photos/images/maps to aid in the understanding of the text. The activities are varied and call for different skills -- research, creating timelines, creative writing, answering reading comprehension questions, etc.

One particular aspect I liked was the effort of the author to connect the present readers with the history presented, One example, reminding readers that COVID affected the 2020 Olympic games. Another aspect: This book showed the differences between slavery (as students understand what happened in the US) and slavery as it occurred in Greece.

For homeschoolers, the whole curriculum is provided. There are lots of references, for further study. If I were only to give two words of explanation, they would be -- beautiful and engaging.
