Robert B. Parker died in 2010 and Split Image was the last in the Jesse Stone series that he wrote. However, the series has continued with an additional six books written by Michael Brandman and Reed Farrel Coleman. I have enjoyed this series by Parker and I have the next two books written by Brandman so I will have to see how they compare.

Split Image was a typical Stone novel with Jesse investigating the deaths of two crime figures who were killed in Paradise. Sunny Randall, the PI from Boston, is also a key figure in this one and she is looking into a case involving and 18-year-old young woman who has left her parents for a cult religious group. It looks like Stone has finally given up on his ex-wife, Jenna, and appears to be getting serious with Sunny. The novel works its way to a satisfying conclusion as Stone tries to solve the two murders and Sunny helps the young woman in her estranged relationship with her parents and her unhealthy involvement with the cult. I always enjoy the laid-back narrative of the Stone novels including the crisp dialog and the dry wit of Stone. I will see how the series goes from here with new authors!
