Jessica May, a Vogue model, was on top of her game when her career took a hit. She decides to pursue a dream as a photojournalist and travels to Europe during World War II. As a female, regardless of her talents, she is restricted from covering any real war news and is relegated to "puff" pieces. Her counterparts and the soldiers do not take her seriously. On her way to her first assignment in a camp hospital, she encounters enemy fire and finds herself introduced to an officer, Dan Hallworth. Their friendship grows and he introduces her to Victorine, an orphaned taken in by his brother prior to his death. Now Dan is her protector. As the war progresses, battles rage and Jessica, along with fellow female reporters, battle to be considered equals. The story goes between WWII time frame and 2005 where dead secrets are uncovered that affected many lives. An engaging, breathtaking, heartbreaking story that's hard to put down!
