This is an excellent audio version of the book "Getting Mother's Body" which is written and read by the author.

Not only do you get the story, but you also get blues songs sung for you.

Each chapter is narrated by a different character in the book and they are all great - from 15-year old, pregnant, and unwed, Billy (named after Billie Holliday but her mother didn't really know how to spell), to Dill Smiles, her mother's Lesbian lover, to Willa Mae Bede herself (she sings the blues in most of her chapters) -this is an entertaining audiobook and one I can heartily recommend.

The story centers on the Bede family and friends who live in Texas in 1963. Willa Mae was supposedly buried with her treasure, a pearl necklace and a diamond ring. Now that Willa Mae's resting place is about to be paved over for a new motel, the only chance that her daughter will have to get the treasure is to somehow get to LaJunta, Arizona and dig her up.
