There were a few words of wisdom in this book, things I'll remember and hope to put into practice however, I feel that Mark Epstein could have said half as much with better organization and extremely more succinctly and the book would have been far more effective.
He offers almost no practical skills but instead rambles vaguely using examples. He doesn't ever really define the difference between "Going to Pieces" and "Falling Apart", something I found frustrating.
I think I'd reach for other books about surviving emotional crisis and save this one for last. Still, someone else may get something totally different from his writing style and the book may change their lives. Only one way to find out!
