I used this book strictly for a class. I never really used any of the strategies. It was given to teachers because we were doing something called Running Records, which is in the book. We now use DRAs, which are sort of like running records except you also consider reading behaviors. For example, if a student can't read but their finger moves left to right and follows each word, you should consider that reading behavior when testing them. Uh, no! If they can't read, they can't read. In my opinoin, this is called dumbing down our expectations. Any child can mimic reading as long as they see it being done at home or at school.
