I lost a lot of sleep from staying up too late reading this book! It's a story of a battered wife who stays in her marriage because she keeps hoping things will get better and she doesn't want to take her son's father from him. Unfortunately, there are many women who have been in the same situation and know from personal experience the heartache it causes. It has been added to Oprah's Book Club, which says to me that it's well worth reading.
