Loyal Huber reader here, but I have several bones to pick with this Verity Kent installment.

Repetitive -- could have easily been trimmed by 30-40 pages.

No plucky gal pals -- Verity spends all her time with three men who are half or fully in love with her. After a while it's a yawn. Where are the interesting female characters?

Lord Ardmore -- I know it's the fashion for mystery series in print and onscreen to pit the main characters against a Big Bad, some mega-villain with vast resources and reach, inevitable intolerance for loose ends, no thought to ever being held to account. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think THAT's interesting, either. Put Verity and Sidney into a fair fight with culprits on a comparable scale to them.
