This one told mostly from the POV of Beedie, a girl living in the Chasm. Fun world-building by Tepper, lots of odd and intriguing things. The first 3 books, about Peter, did not have so much strangeness in them; it's like in this set Tepper really let her imagination run. I especially liked the concept of the stickies, who absorbed memories and personality from the humans they ate. There is no plotline connected to the Game this time, it's all about finding Handbright, although we see that Mavin is still to rendezvous with Himaggery and get pregnant with Peter.
