In the Highlander's Bed is a fast paced wonderful historical romance. Cathy Maxwell offers us a heroine who is by no means a damsel in distress and a hero who is deeply conflicted about the events unfolding in his life. He just didn't know it until he met her. Constance was born and raised in the Ohio valley of America. After the death of their father, she and her sisters move to London to reclaim their birthright as granddaughters to an Earl. Constance wants none of the pomp that comes with being a debutante in England. She longs for home and plans her escape from the school for girls that she has been forced to stay at.

Gordon Lachlan plans to kidnap Constance Cameron. Her brother by marriage, Duke of Colster, has in his possession a sword that belongs to Lachlan's clan, the Sword of the McKenna. Gordon believes that if he can get this sword in his possession, he and his clan will finally win victory over the English and Scotland will once again be theirs. Constance surprises Gordon by âjoiningâ his Cause and takes his small camp of clansmen by storm. She whips them back into shape and his clan is happier than they have been in months. What Gordon doesn't realize is that the sword will come at a much higher price than he realized. It will cost him his heart.
